Accessibility statement

The Thomas Bernhardt Lab website is designed to align with Harvard Medical School web guidance and accessibility expectations.

Current support and review status

We are working toward WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance, consistent with Harvard Medical School digital accessibility guidance, and we continuously review the site against those criteria.

Our March 17, 2026 review covered the homepage, people directory, alumni directory, accessibility page, and individual profile pages. We checked keyboard navigation, visible focus states, skip links, semantic heading structure, alt text for content images, form labels, iframe titles, and reduced-motion support.

Auto-rotating image sections include previous/next controls plus a pause control, and embedded video is configured with captions plus an on-page transcript.

Team and alumni directory content is available even when JavaScript is unavailable. Search, sorting, and filtering enhance those pages when JavaScript is enabled.

Third-party embeds (for example, Google Maps and YouTube) are provided through external platforms and may have platform-specific accessibility behavior. A full assistive-technology audit across every browser and device combination is still in progress.

Report an accessibility issue

If you encounter a barrier while using this website, contact the lab and include the page URL and a brief description of the issue.
